New prescription charges came into force on Ibiza in January this year. Most people, including UK pensioners, are now required to pay a percentage of their prescription charges. The charges will vary from person to person and will be based on your declared income taken from your annual resident tax declaration. If you have not made a annual resident tax declaration then blanket charges will be made of 40% for non-pensioners with low income and 10% for pensioners. It is a very complicated system, and once you have reached your quota of percriptions based on your tax return, your prescription become free for the rest of the month.
