About us
We are here to promote the well-being of all older people (50 plus) through our local Age Concern Organisations. Our nationally registered Age Concern Organisation, ACASA, can also work with those with a military connection, of any age, through its Partnership with SSAFA Forces Help.
Our mission
We provide direct services for those in need and aim to secure a positive role for the older generation. We are in a unique position to provide support through our large network of English speaking volunteers. We are committed to integration in Spain and work closely with Spanish organisations.
The Federation of Age Concern España relies on voluntary donations to fund its vital work. Each Age Concern Organisation must raise its own funding i.e. donations from individuals, groups, and businesses, plus funds raised at dedicated fund-raising events. Some Age Concern Organisations have charity shops which are an important source of funding.
Structure
Within the Federation of Age Concern España there are 6 local Age Concern Organisations and a National Casework Service, ACASA – Age Concern Acción Social y Asistencial . All the Organisations work individually or in cooperation, to help those in need.
History
Age Concern España was established in 1994 and developed from an organisation called O.A.S.I.S. Initially known as Age Concern Spain (Baleares) it has developed with the active support of AGE UK.
In 1998 the Federation of Age Concern España was created which encompassed the organisations in the Balearic Islands and mainland Spain. The Federation continues to grow with the creation of local organisations (AC Costa Calída 2010) and the national organisation, ACASA, - Age Concern Acción Social y Asistencial (2011).
