Well, looks like autumn weather is in winding down and we’re starting to see cloudy, rainy weather more familiar in the winter… temperature is still nice though and who knows what the true winter will bring. Hope it’s as good as last year.
We at Age Concern are back at it after a short summer break. We are beginning to see a few more requests for information and help and we’re pretty happy with the way things are going. We are in various stages of training of about 15 volunteers and continue to search for more, especially in outlying areas where we don’t have coverage. So if you’re interested, let us know.
We currently have pages on www.chifra.org and mycadiz.biz, and regular updates in Baywatch and the mycadiz.biz e-zine. Thanks to you all for your support. We have just added an Age Concern Costa de la Luz page on the Age Concern Espana website – check it out at http://acespana.org/acos/ – they did a very nice job putting it together.
We had a successful booth at a boot sale earlier this month and continue to get support from the local quiz nights (thanks Julia and Colin). These small events are just barely paying our monthly bills so we are always looking for other opportunities. If you or anyone you know would be interested in sponsoring us or an event for us, we’d be greatly appreciative. Additionally, we’re happy to take donations of equipment, e.g. wheelchairs, walkers, etc. that are no longer being used. We’ll make them available to folks in need.
Also, we’ll be starting a drive to find “Friends of Age Concern Costa de la Luz.” These folks will support us with an annual donation (of whatever one would like to give) and will receive routine updates on what we’re doing and discounts on any of our events.
As a reminder, our Lifeline telephone number is: 634 315 289, or we can be emailed at ACCDLL@gmail.com.
Reckon that’s about it for now. Let us know if there’s anything we can do for you, or anything you’d like to do for us.
