Latest News from Age Concern Costa de la Luz

Hi Folks,

Well it´s been a nice quiet Christmas with not much going on; one assumes that many have gone back to the UK for a traditional Christmas. A couple of calls have been to check on the eligibility to Social Services and timescales; most people have had support from friends and neighbours which is great.

Of course some of the committee have been rushed off their feet as they joined up with the committee of ChiFRA (Chiclana Foreign Residents Association) to help the Three Kings raise money for their charity, “No Child without a Toy at Christmas”. The event was a dinner/dance with a raffle held on 3rd January which raised 1,018€ for the charity. The Three Kings actually raised over 72,000€ to spend on the 1,400+ children, a magnificent effort.

Volunteer IconDue to health issues or other requirements we lost a couple more committee members during 2013 and, although we still have enough to run the organization, it would be a great time to pump the numbers back up. We’ll have our Annual General Meeting in May where we can officially add members. Please ring our life line number 634 31 52 89 if you are interested in becoming a committee member or volunteer.

Each volunteer can work as many or few hours as they wish, on days that they are available; we are always stretched at weekends.
